Psych Central Accounts for 20 Percent of Stress Online InfluencersWe are both proud and pleased to announced that two long-time Psych Central bloggers and regular contributors, Associate Editor Margarita Tartakovsky and psychologist Elisha Goldstein, PhD have made ShareCare?s Top Ten Stress Online Influencers list.

Margarita made the #3 spot, while Dr. Goldstein pulled in the #10 spot.

As ShareCare noted, 43 percent of Americans have health problems largely due or directly impacted by the stress in their lives. Better managing stress can turn around your life. ?Luckily, there are caring individuals offering information, support and resources for those feeling the effects of stress this holiday season and throughout the year.?

According to the infographic, the top four causes of stress are: money, work, economy, and relationships. The great news is that we have a lot of control over 3 of those 4 in our lives (we can?t do much about the economy).

Stress takes a toll on your body, making it feel more run down than your chronological age would suggest. When under increased stress, you may have trouble concentrating or learning new things. You may find yourself more susceptible to colds or allergies, and feel more anxious more often ? with cold, clammy or sweaty hands, heart palpitations, rapid pulse. It can even impact your weight.

Luckily for us, we have two great writers who provide thoughtful ideas, tips and strategies for reducing stress in our lives.

Margarita Tartakovsky is an associate editor at Psych Central, where she writes about everything from ADHD and creativity to bipolar disorder and body image issues. She is also a featured writer for Weightless, a body image blog that empowers women, and Beliefnet.com, where she writes about topics such as mindfulness and happiness. She also authors her own blog at MargaritaTartakovsky.com. Originally from Moscow, Tartakovsky moved to the U.S. when she was six. She earned her bachelor?s degree in psychology from Florida State University and her master?s degree from Texas A&M?s clinical psychology program.

Elisha Goldstein, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist who practices in West LA, California. He is a contributing writer for The Huffington Post and Psych Central, where he publishes stories on health, mindfulness and reducing stress. Goldstein is also an author (his newest book is entitled The Now Effect) and creator of the ?Mindfulness at Work? program, which is currently being practiced at many multinational businesses. His articles have been published in The Journal of Clinical Psychology and he has been quoted in the New York Daily News, NPR, Reuters and many others.

Gretchen Rubin, whose posts we regularly syndicate here on World of Psychology, also made the list.

Congratulations to all three!
